You'd better be right Gore!

Science is taking a huge risk in entrusting itself to Al Gore. If it turns out that he and his crowd are wrong on this warming issue, science stands to take a severe and surprising face blow.

Science has been ignored, ridiculed and outright suppressed in the past. It has won it's way to its modern prestige by being right; basing it's claims on deeply researched, tested and verified information.

Now it seems science has opened itself up to political and social influences and is basing its information on consensus instead of pure scientific method. It's a scary thing to contemplate the world if Global Warming proves not to be anthropogenic (man-made) or if the current warming trend reverses. The good people of the world will begin to think twice about accepting scientific assertions at face value and will become more direction-less than they currently are. Such a blow to science would be catastrophic to progress and steps should be taken to prevent it.

Here are a few who are trying:

We already have a difficult time attracting students to study and practice the sciences. Imagine disenchanting our children to the degree that is possible here.

Allow dissenting voices in the debate! Statements like, "Global Warming is a proven fact." and "Doubters had better get on board." are emotional, dangerous and counter-productive. Frankly, for those of us who have put some trust in science, they are downright scary.
